What is the symbolism of the lotus blossom in art?
Particularly in Buddhist art?
In Buddhism, the lotus’ petals represent the “unfolding of enlightenment” or the expansion of the soul..
It is also the (Hindu) symbol of the Crown Chakra or Sahasrara, “said to be the chakra of consciousness, the master chakra that controls all the others” symbolized by a lotus with a thousand petals.
